The Arrival

My first initial impression when I saw the name of the comic I immediately thought a comic... you know the one with pictures and... text! So that being said it was quite a shocker "reading" a comic of only pictures, but it was a vivid and very interesting comic, I seemed to relate it with Batman: Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. Reason be the pictures in Arkham Asylum were very skimp of text and when they did use text it was more for the composition of the page, I felt The Arrival had the same intentions with composition of the page.

Overall I loved this comic, it kinda gave me a gateway into broadening my comic interest. I hope to research some more of Shaun Tan's work, His graphite skills are very well done.. the lighting he obtains is absolutely brilliant. The story was very lovable and sad, I felt you weren't attached the to the characters alone, more of everything around them. It had a WW2 feeling to it but very dreamlike, the creatures were very convincing of being actual animals from the real world.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone that does or does not read comics.
